Because Zucoins Wallet is self-custody and stores your data locally on your device, a backup is the only way to recover your wallet if your device is lost, damaged, replaced, or if your browser data is cleared.
Zucoins strongly recommends backing up your wallet before you receive any Zucoins, and treating the backup file with the same care as the wallet itself.
Before You Begin
Your Zucoins Wallet installed and open
A safe, private place to store your backup file
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open your Zucoins Wallet and find the "Backup wallet" option.
Why: This generates a backup file containing the information needed to restore your wallet.
Confirm the backup when prompted.
Why: Zucoins' wallet interface warns that this creates an unencrypted backup file containing your private key, so you'll be asked to confirm you understand this before it's created.
Store the backup file somewhere safe and secure, and do not share it with anyone.
Why: Anyone who has your backup file has access to your private key, and therefore your Zucoins.
Important Notes
Zucoins' own wallet warns that the backup file is unencrypted and contains your sensitive private key. Don't share this file with anyone, and store it somewhere safe and secure.
Zucoins has stated it cannot recommend a specific storage location for your backup file, for liability reasons. Where and how you store it is your responsibility.
Back up your wallet before receiving Zucoins, not just afterwards. Zucoins specifically recommends this as a precaution.
